Comprised of seasoned pickers from across Kentucky and Tennessee, the band operates on a simple premise: "Sing it right, play it tight, and have a good time doing it." The Steelrails' sound is anchored by the soulful lead vocals and steady rhythm of Travis Wright on guitar. Their signature vocal stack is rounded out by the airtight harmonies of Luke Marlow (mandolin/baritone), Arnold Lawson (dobro/tenor), and the deep resonance of Bart Taylor (fiddle/bass vocals). This four-part vocal depth allows the band to explore a rich range of dynamics, from mournful traditional ballads to high-energy anthems.
Instrumentally, the group is a powerhouse built on mutual respect and technical precision. Whether it’s the lightning-fast banjo rolls of Adam Phelps, the sliding soul of Lawson’s dobro, or Taylor’s driving fiddle work, the band’s energy is held firmly in place by the foundational pulse of Tim Clinton on the upright bass.
